New Surroundings-

(My Flower of the Wildwood Weed)

Neeeeew Surroundings

Take One

I was walking through the fields

On the farm one day

When a crazy notion

Came my way.

I went to the Navy

And raised my hand

Now I’m sailing off the coast

Of crazy Iran!

Seas surround me,

I’d rather have her arms

All around me!

Grass through her toes

Tabacci ‘tween her gums,

Wife of Fourteen

With an old shotgun.

Now she’s goin’ on fourty-two

And she can drink and cuss,

And chew tabacci too!

Seas surround me,

I’d rather have her arms

All around me!

I love my flower

Of the wildwood weed.

How I ever lived without her

I will never see;

How I ever got so far away

I’ll never know ‘till my dyin’ day.

From my flower of the wildwood weed!

Got a little shack

With an old wood stove.

Outhouse in the back

Where the greener grass grows.

I could be with my flower

And live a life of ease,

Just kickin’ back

And doin’ what I please!

But seas surround me.

I’d rather have her arms

All around me!

Seas surround me.

I’d rather have her arms

All around me!
